What are we celebrating?
In 2023, our member Alliance enabled us to:
- Continue to work on winter travel plans with federal agencies and other local partners across California, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado;
- Protect a backcountry ski area in Minnesota from ski resort expansion;
- Share two new Trail Break magazine editions with you;
- Improve backcountry winter recreation management on the ground in select areas;
- Connect over 35,000 kids to snow science, watersheds and winter recreation through our STEM-based SnowSchool program;
- Hold our 10th Biennial Grassroots Advocacy Conference in Colorado with our members, grassroots groups, athletes, USFS representatives, and other important partners;
- Grow the Ski Kind backcountry responsibility code into impactful projects and experiences;
- Launch our first ever Trail Break Radio podcast;
- Take our 18th and 19th annual Backcountry Film Festivals on tour across the snow belt;
- Add new staff and board members and to build administrative and programmatic capacity;
- Utilize nature-based climate solutions to fight climate change across our policy and advocacy work;
- Mobilize and support our grassroots groups in their efforts to protect America’s snowscapes across our backyards;
- Further our campaign and legislative involvement to protect NEPA;
- And fight Alaska’s Ambler Road.
